NY's Campaign Finance Laws Among Weakest In Nation

Hot sauce, cars, charitable contributions are among the "justified" expenses for NY politicians

D&C Story

NY State Campaign Financial Disclosure database

A Few Recognizable "FRIENDS OF SUPERVISOR JOHN T. AUBERGER"

ANTHONY, PATRICIA
CHATTERTON, STEVE (GPD)
CONLON, ANDREW (3rd Ward candidate 2009)
DIPALMA, JANET
DOBSON, DOUGLAS

FRIENDS OF RAY DIRADDO (Greece Town Atty)
FIRKINS, KATHRYN (AKA "I am him")
GREECE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (What a shock!)
GREECE POLICE GOLD BADGE CLUB
LOEWKE BRILL CONSULTING GROUP (GCSD Consulting!)
MACKIN, WILLIAM (GPD ... I wonder if he is STILL a "friend"? )
OKEEFE, SHANNON (Contributor in 2008, Greece Town Board in 2009!)
PHELAN, PATRICK (GPD)

SELKE, WILLIAM (Greece's "professional" volunteer!)
TAJKOWSKI, GARY

SCATS ~~ Any implication that it "pays" to contribute is merely coincidental! ;)

There are also many current emploees of the town who have given money to Auberger.

This article in the D&C is EXACTLY why I refuse to give campaign contributions to anyone. I be damned if I am going to help pay for some elected offical's perks like car payments! And our elected official's are so clueless.

The consulting group to the SCHOOL DISTRICT is giving toward the TOWN election ????????

Thank you Boily - no cost to the taxpayers here.

To 10:34AM ~~ You should look at contributors for some of our other politicians ... like Robach. He has an awful lot of union gifts and donations made by drug companies, pharmacies and health care/insurance groups. Then there's Christa Construction and the Greece Chamber, of course. One of my faves is $9500 from FRIENDS FOR THE ELECTION OF DEAN SKELOS.

If you "pay" someone to be your "friend", does that make you a whore?

Scats: What about Dollinger and the Wegman Klan????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

SCATS said...

To 5:05PM ~~ I'm not finding that info. Did you? All I see is the Dollinger for Senate folks gave numerous donations to the Monroe County Democratic Committee.

I thought we weren't allowed to comment on unions here? Did you change the rules again SCATS?

Christa gave money to the democrats too. Or is that ok, cuz well, they're democrats and we're not allowed to point that out here?

Keep pretending this site isn't in the democrat's hip pocket. We know the real deal. It'd be better to just be truthful. ;)

Eric Massa is now taking contributions from big corporations, something he said he'd never do. Is that worth mentioning or no because he's a democrat. He also is flooded with unio- (oops) I mean money from places where people are forced to pay dues.

OK? Not OK? Worth mentioning? Or no becuase, well... you know the rules here.

@8:49 - I know. It's hard when you really don't want to find the answer that proves a point. "Well, I must have missed that 800 pound gorilla sitting right next to me because then I'd have to point out that he's really there. Smart tactic.

To 9:28PM ~~ I did not go through every name on every portion of the campaign finance tool posted. Try searching for Dollinger's name. It doesn't come up. I only found it by opening the link for Monroe County Democratic Committee and scrolling through it all. I searched for Maloney and found nothing for him either.

Any 800 pound gorillas missed by SCATS pales in comparison to the chip you carry on your shoulder ;)

The consulting group was hired by HMO during their period of control on the board

The consultant was hired during the time of HMO

SCATS said...

To 9:54 & 9:56PM ~~ But their campaign donation didn't happen until March of 2009 ;)

Dollinger's family is allowed by law to contribute to his campaign.

Methinks some bunny is just jealous because every day they don't get THEIR best!

Anonymous said...

I'm sure the consultant made the donation because it "felt" like the right thing to do.
I am sure they were not "asked".

We are going backwards faster than I could imagine.
And you thought there were no politics in public education - "for the kids"

I find it disturbing to see several names of GPD employees on this list! While Mackin will probably escape trouble by settling into retirement, I'm pretty sure the others (Chatterton and Phelan) will escape any unusual findings by our $3000/day investigative team!! There's nothing to see here! Nope, nada!!

Campaign contributions are a bad lot all over the political map.
Democrats are certainly not exempted. That's one reason the health care debate is so skewed. Big pharma and health insurance has been lining pockets of democrats to knock out public options and give a big windfall to insurance and health care industries,
Public financing of elections is a better way to go.

That being said, I think there is something really unethical about dunning the folks who work for you to contribute to your campaign. Talk about involuntary payments

One again Auberger and Maggie Brooks (who also employs this tactic) seem very high on the scale of scaly behavior

Anyone should be allowed to give to whomever they want. Bob Duffy has the highest percentage of employees contributing to him but I guess that's not worth mentioning here because he's a Democrat.
