TOWN BOARD MEETING TUES. 6 PM

PRELIMINARY AGENDA INCLUDES:

"Authorization to approve 2009 budget modifications to various accounts. A complete list has been given to each Town Board Member and will appear in the minutes of record."

SCATS ~~ Is this to cover the outrageous expenses incurred by the internal investigation into the Greece police dept?

We need to ask them for a list and something more public

Love your poll...I can't believe there's actually 18 people who still think Auberger is what best represents the town of Greece.

They must like having their taxpayer dollars wasted and believe scandals don't hurt the town's image. It's obvious they're not running for the interests of the town--but for their OWN best interest...themselves.

Either that, or they think it's better to go with the devil you know, instead of the devil you don't know.

Regarding the town's budget modifications, I can't help but wonder if these people are in training for Greece boe seats. It all sounds so familiar!

Just heard that Auberger stuck it in the face of the community again. At tonight's board meeting a new cop was appointed, another one who has been on three or four departments (I have to wonder why), the last one being in Avon, is aging with grey hair, and obviously has joined the Greece PD so he can up his pay grade and retire in a couple of years at a higher rate. We lose every time Auberger does this.

Auberger never learns, doesn't care and takes every opportunity to flaunt his power in the face of the taxpayers.

To 7:24PM ~~ On top of that, GPD is in the news again! It seems there were some issues with their property clerk ... can't imagine what that might be. Well, actually I can ... I wonder if we'll ever hear the whole story ... I suspect we will, but it will all be reported as "rumor." Typical in Greece.

I'll never understand the Greece Dems talking out of both sides of their mouth. They say the GPD is being decimated then complain that additional officers are hired. How does that cake taste?

To 10:22AM ~~ You should try to read the entire comment before typing. The "complaint" is that history is repeating itself with the new hire coming via the same type avenues that have gotten Greece into trouble!

It's true, the GPD is being decimated. They are dropping like flies. You do notice that they are all command officers, personally promoted by Auberger.

It's the rank and file honest, everyday hardworking cops who are bearing the brunt of all this political bull.

Yes, Auberger should be condemned for his hiring practices, which he continues. He again, last night, appoints a cop who lives in Avon, NY, who has served on several police departments and who is of an age almost ready for retirement.

That gets us a cop who will probably last at most about three years, who lives far away in another Town and County, who cares nothing about Greece, his family and children are not here, so why should he care about safety, crime, etc. He will put in his eight hours and go home.

I also have to wonder how come he keeps moving about, why one police department after another. It makes you wonder if he has had problems? It seems realistic to suspect that.

These are just the kind of hirees that got Auberger into trouble in the first place, you would think he would want to hire locally. I am sure there are many young men in Greece who would be only too happy to earn the salary paid in Greece, who care about what happens here because their family lives here and their safety is their first and foremost concern.

The Greece Dems, as someone pointed out, are not complaining about hiring new cops. Actually, they would like to see the full complement of 94 officers as we are currently paying for in the Town budget and not our present strength of 70 something and decreasing daily.

The problem is with who he hires. These are not new cops, they are older men, close to retirement age and for some reason, he likes to hire those who have jumped from one department to another which is suspect at the very least and which keeps getting him into trouble. When will he ever learn?
