Rahn will now take down Auberger.

What a shame that Lt. Wise is leaving..he did a great job and had received 2 Commendations in his career...I know one of them was for the arrest of James Comfort who raped numerous girls/women. (who is now doing time in some godforsaken prison near Montreal where all the bad guys are til he's in his 70's!)

Look for the wrath of Parinello going after Auberger....his "reign of error" must come to an end.

If Rahn goes John Auberger must go too. he doesn't get a free pass on this or get to use Rahn as a patsy.

Anonymous said...

They will find all the missing evidence at John Auberger's house.

Refresh my memory please. Is this the first time that Rahn has been indicted and arrested this year? It is getting confusing.

SCATS said...

To 3:41PM ~~ Your memory is faulty. James Comfort is NOT doing time in Canada! I think he may be in the same place as Nick Joseph, the Clinton Correctional Facility.

To 3:48PM ~~ Yes, it the first time he is facing criminal charges this year. Earlier he was hit with departmental charges.

I didn't say he was IN Canada..it's someplace near there close to the border (forgive me, I don't know the exact name)...but the point is: it's not a nice place.

Definite loss for the people of Greece... Lt Wise is a great guy and excellent cop

SCATS said...

To 5:21PM ~~ I assure you that upstate NY (Dannemora Prison) and Montreal still are NOT neighbors :) LOL

Anonymous said...

Wise was nothing more than one of Auberger's internal spies, a "mole" if you will. You can bet that there were bigger issues than this. He's getting off easy with this deal.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have a score card on GPD??

Anonymous said...

Again, Scats..my comment wasn't about the geographical location..it was about the prison is bottom of the barrel where all the bad arses are and his life now is no piece of cake... he has been far removed from society..and good riddance.

Maybe you can look him up on the internet to let us know where we can send our birthday cards..;).

SCATS said...

To 5:57PM ~~ I did look him up. He is at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY. So is Nick Joseph ;) Maybe they can have one whole cell block just for Greece.

I love this from Wise from the D&C article:

Also, one of the department’s top criminal investigators, Steve Wise, has decided to retire. He has been central to some of the town’s major criminal probes.

"Wise, who heads the Greece criminal investigations division, said today that he plans to go into teaching. He has worked as an officer for 22 years.

"I've got my time in and this fabulous offer came along," he said about his plan to teach."

I wonder when he'll come out and tell the truth about how he used the town-owned car he drives and took a trip to Pittsburgh in it to go see the Steelers play - using not only the car, but the town credit card to buy the gas as well as the EZ-PASS assigned to the town.

Hope the game was worth it!

Wise can teach for GCSD. I'm sure the BOE would install him as an expert on something. After all Boily or Auberger it's all the same butt to kiss to get ahead in this town.

Anonymous said...

Steve Wise would make a great SRO! I bet they'd let him drive the district's pretend police car lol

If what you're saying about Lt. Wise is true, I still don't think it rises to the level of criminal activity in any capacity. I always felt grateful that we had him to investigate crimes (which have grown) in my area of Greece.

At least he was the only one that was willing to inquire about obtaining the new child porn software (Operation Orange Tree in Fla.). I also understood that the cost would be nothing for the taxpayers and that drug money would pay for it.

Apparently, Auberger had other uses for the "drug money" maybe? I would think any tool that helped GPD fight crime would come first...

but he actually ignored that email that proposed that suggestion to him.

Will have to wait for Maloney to take office..at least he understands that even having ONE child predator in our town is one too many.

To 5:48PM ~~ The score card as far as I can recall:

Chief Rahn ~~ Indicted today on one felony count & facing departmental charges

Deputy Chief Bill Mackin ~~ Departmental charges; retired

Lt. Steve Wise ~~ Departmental charges related to use of department vehicle; to retire & go into teaching

Sgt. Joseph ~~ Convicted of felony & misdemeanor charges; residing in Dannemora prison

Sgt. Pignato ~~ Convicted of felony charges; sentenced to state prison; awaiting second trial Nov. 30th

Sgt. Trowbridge ~~ Charged with falsifying documents; awaiting trial

Sgt. Ball ~~ Suspended without pay on departmental charges

Mike Giardina ~~ Property clerk quit due to "abusive questioning"

Did I miss anyone?

Next up ~~ Thomas "The Wrist Snapper" Schamerhorn?

Remember, Mike Green told us there could be 10 more after charges were brought against Trowbridge.

SCATS said...

To 8:31PM ~~ Criminal activity is just that ... "criminal." When our cops become part of the problem, it's time for some swift action. My impression is that Wise is "getting a deal" since he was one of Auberger's favorite sidekicks. He is at least partially responsible for the fact that former Supt. Steve Walts got away with all his "minor crimes" against Greece taxpayers, too. But then, you aren't worried about such things apparently.

Have you ever looked at one of those maps to see how many registered sex offenders already reside in Greece? There are plenty!

At this point Auberger probably needs the drug $$ to pay Loszynski & Co. Does anyone have any reliable estimate of the costs of this investigation so far? I've heard well in excess of $300,000, but I have no confirmation of that figure.

Is this the same dude?

SCATS said...

To 8:48PM ~~ Interesting ... I really don't know.

To be fair, no one has said that the property clerk engaged in any wrong doing.

Anonymous said...

SCATS-I can't wait to see our very own Town Supervisor added to that list. Blame Merritt Rahn all you want, but Rahn was only doing what Auberger told him to do. It's raining Republicans.

It's unfortunate Lt. Wise got caught in this scandal. But Auberger has to continue his scapegoating. It's the only thing he knows now.

There was some security person that Phelan wanted to investigate fellow board members when there were more dissidents on the school board. Couold that be the one? He wanted to find out who had "leaked" public information as I remember.

Here is an article from NY Times that came up on a "giardina" google search. It is about that young Greece string teacher that was murdered and it mentions that a detective"giardina" that is "stumped". They eventually solved that case but he may also be moonlighting as a detective. For whatever it's worth...

What is with the Comfort case? Why does this matter to the retiring of Lt Wise? Oh I know he was going to get that spy software with the drug money that is recovered, and the kids in the town of Greece would be safe. (sarc)

SCATS said...

Regarding James Comfort ~~ Don't forget that investigators recently visited and interviewed him about Rahn & Parrinello.

Anonymous said...

to 10:28, They found the body. However, I'm pretty sure they did not make an arrest.

Anonymous said...

So far Auberger is doing exactly what he said he would with this investigation.
I happen to think it takes alot of guts to follow thru.
Lets not forget he is dealing with the culture left by people like Phelan and Boily over many years.

Anonymous said...

John Auberger is part of that corrupt culture. He is even worse in many respects.

Your comment is based on ?

SCATS said...

To 9:34AM ~~ I agree with that comment and I'll base it upon what's been in the headline along with my own personal experiences. Under Auberger's command, Town Hall wants to know WHO YOU ARE, not how they can help you, when you call. That same theme is carried out when you go to any event sponsored by the Town of Greece. They send around clipboards for people to sign their names, addresses, phone numbers. When I asked "why?" I was told so they could keep me informed. So I said "Oh, you are going to keep the "information" secret from the other 96,000 residents?" They took the clipboard and went to a different area to continue collecting info. If you want to get a "membership card" for the Community Center, they ask personal questions like "Do you live alone? (creepy!)" and "What is your income?" After filling that form out, they make you wait to come back and get a card they write your name on. Do they do background checks?

At a zoning board meeting, they pulled the same crappola with the clipboard sign-ins ... until yours truly raised a fuss. At that point, one of the board members arose from his seat, came over and snatched away the clipboard which was then put inside a drawer. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Then there's the Town Board meetings with preprinted agendas all set with who will move & second each item ... even for new board members who haven't taken their oath of office yet. The actual meetings are a complete farce. There is NO discussion at all! And there are no dissenting votes. A 3 or 4 page listing of business is all handled inside of 15-20 minutes at most.

Then there's the closed door meetings. I love the video of them scattering after they got caught in a secret meeting about the cable access issue.

To 9:34AM, I could go on & on & on ... but I suspect you don't really want me to ;)

To refer to what you decribe as a "corrupt culture" is a bit of a stretch don't you think?

SCATS said...

To 10:14AM ~~ No, I do not. Corruption can only exist within a culture of secrecy and paranoia. Our town govt excels at both.

Here's another example, right from the response to the charges against Rahn, where his atty. cites how our Town Board doesn't follow Open Meeting Laws or even bother reading the documents before voting on the business before them: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/assets/pdf/A213825879.PDF

Doesn't anyone question the timing of all this? I know that it is very rare for the DA to take a single case to the Grand Jury while other aspects of the same investigation are ongoing. Normally, at the conclusion of the investigation, they present all their findings to the Grand Jury at one time.

In this case, one of the very minor charges is brought to the Grand Jury, and an indictment gained so that Rahn could be arrested on the so-called "felony" charge.

Politically, Mike Green is a Republican masquerading as a Democrat. He takes his orders from Magpie and he is in bed with Auberger on this one.

Here are the implications of rushing through this "timely" indictment. Now that Rahn has been charged with a crime, the hearing officer assigned to hear the departmental charges against Rahn will postpone the public hearing indefinitely or until the criminal proceeding against Rahn is concluded.

Chalk up a big win for Auberger who will not have to face off with John Parinello until long after the November election. An investigation of the DA's office is in order by Federal authorities.

Such are the politics of Greece and Monroe County. Incidentally, they are one in the same when you consider Auberger's relationship with the Magpie.

Anonymous said...

Please. Auberger is history. Does he honestly believe that the people of Greece are watching him at his so-called "press conferences" touting how his "investigation" to leave "no stone unturned" isn't a direct reflection on his ability to manage?

WHO WAS (IS) MERRITT RAHN'S BOSS?

WHO WAS (IS) IN CHARGE OF HIRING?

WHO WAS (IS) THE ONE WHO GIVES THE ORDERS?

WHO WAS (IS) INVISIBLE ABOUT THE NICK JOSEPH ACCIDENT ONLY UNTIL THE MEDIA PICKED UP ON THE STORY?

WHO WAS (IS) STILL HIDING THE ACCIDENT THAT REILICH'S SON GOT IN THAT A CHECK WAS MADE OUT TO THE WOMAN INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT WITH THE TOWN TRUCK REILICH'S SON WAS DRIVING WHILE EMPLOYED WITH THE TOWN WAS INVOLVED IN HIDING THE FACTS?

WHO WAS (IS) THE MAN WHO ASKED SANTANGELO TO STEP DOWN FROM THE DPW TO HIDE THE FACT THAT HIS KID AND RELICH'S KID WERE ON THE PAYROLL AS NO-SHOW WORKERS?

THE ANSWER: JOHN (JACK) T. AUBERGER - THE BOSS HOGG OF GREECE

Anonymous said...

I too was wondering about the indictment in relation to the disposition of the public hearing.

It seems too coincidental to me.

Anonymous said...

There will now be NO public hearing until AFTER the criminal trial - by law.

Thanks alot Mr. District Attorney.

How many times EVER in the history of a D.A. does he come forward to the Grand Jury EVER to bring forth ONE charge in the middle of an ongoing, still open D.A. Investigation?

Answer: Never

Maybe Mr. Green needs to be asked some tough questions...

Anonymous said...

SCATS, do they still make people sign in at zoning meetings? What about the planning and environmental boards? Is it only for those appearing with a case or for the public there to watch too? That's an odd practice. Which board member snatched it out of your hands?

SCATS said...

To 10:26PM ~~ I haven't been to one of those meetings in recent months. My understanding is that all of these boards you mentioned meet publicly. The schedule is on the Town of Greece website for interested parties.

Anonymous said...

you don't need to sign in at planning or zoning meetings. if you speak to an application during the public hearing, you're asked for your name as a matter of record.

Anonymous said...

so the board was making people sign in at their meetings up until at least a few months ago then? Wow. Did you remember that board member that snatched the clip board out of your hand?

SCATS said...

To 11:07PM ~~ This wasn't a sign-in like when you enter the room. During the course of the meeting, a clipboard was passed person-to-person through the "audience" with a sheet of paper for everyone to sign. I wasn't there to speak ;)

To 11:31PM ~~ Nice try at twisting words. What I stated was : "At a zoning board meeting..." I never suggested that I was a regular attendee. However, if they did it the night I was there, then it's likely the typical behavior. I have in fact attended several of Auberger's concerts and it certainly is their habit to send the clipboards around the crowds there. Someone at Town Hall has a list fetish.

Anonymous said...

Who grabbed the sign in sheet out of your hand? Sounds a bit over the top. Someone should talk to that person. You said it was one of the board members?

SCATS said...

To 5:52PM ~~ Do you really think I didn't hear you the first several times you asked that question? I'm not divulging any information that might help you to reveal who I am, duh! ;)
