Why Did GCSD Give Yolanda Hill A Plea Deal?

She Stole $28,000 In Services, A Larceny
But GCSD Let Her Off With a Misdeamenor That Let's Her Serve Probation With No Restitution

BOE Prez Tydings ~~ “We’re glad that it’s done and we’re sorry it actually had to come to this."

MPNNews

SCATS ~~ Why are "we" glad it's done? Sorry it came to what?? Is he apologizing for the fact we spent thousands of dollars to get her 5 kids out of Greece where the rest of us supported them and then decided it was wrong to make her accountable? Does this mean we won't pursue future thefts?

We have set a terrible president.

You mean precedent by a terrible president. You are right.

So are the kids not in Greece schools because school is out for the summer? I mean she was in jail for 5 months and sis the kids not live with the Grandma during that time?

I hope that every one of the district jumpers get the same as this mom, no matter the plea she can't sneak back in now :)!

I think 3:31 has said is correctly, "we have set a terrible PRESIDENT." This is not a precedent, we've done it before, but I think Tydings takes the cake.

Tydings has, since he got on the board, been the most ineffective, inconsistent, vague, and indecisive member I have yet seen. He is unable to deal with controversy. For a lawyer (and I have little respect for most of them) he is so ill-prepared and out of the loop on every issue before the board and would rather "table" the item than make a decision. I can see we're in for a wonderful year with him at the helm. He makes Julia look very good.

He reminds me a lot of the court-appointed lawyer in the moved "My Cousin Vinnie."

I won't even begin to talk about Jeff Smith as VP. If Tydings is ever absent, we should be in for a great show.

To 4:22PM ~~ While I tend to agree with you, it was Julia who allowed the BOE to illegally hire an attorney in April (because it wasn't approved until June), a decision that had NO PUBLIC DISCUSSION AT ALL regarding the reason another attorney was required, post haste at that!

Word is, the attorney was/is related to Steve's future in Greece, another item that hasn't been discussed publicly even though the BOE is required to evaluate him each June!

I'm sure Roger will get his clowns, I mean clones, to approve a nice big fat pay increase for Stevieboy, too! Maybe he can find a way to use some of that "free money" Albany likes to send lol

One of her children was in a special education program. $$$ 8:1:1

I suggest Yolanda Hill should be hired forthwith by GCSD at a minimum of $125,000 per year as a District Asst. Superintendant.

The woman sure as hell knows how to acomplish something, and when she gets BUSTED she knows how to keep her mouth shut. She would be a POSITIVE influence on executive row.

To 11:40PM ~~ Her presence would positively impact our employment figures for people of color too ;)

I heard them discussing this on a local radio talk show earlier in the week, they said that she was given probation and 200 hours of community service to be done in the town of greece. Someone did bring up the question of why the restitution was dropped, which I too was wondering. The point was brought up that they probally were told they would never get this money from the woman since she is already on welfare. So the community service and the fact that her children now have to attend the city schools in September was supposedly the closest thing they could get to payback. I think she should be assigned to clean up the Greece Police Dept. or serve as a custodian at one of the schools her children has attended for free for the last year.

She should have served jail time. You or I would. If it's good enough for us, it's good enough for her.

Since she was in jail on another charge her children were/are living with her mom (the grandma) and are qualified to attend the greece schools. So the case would have been possibly thrown out as moot since the condition of the residency in the city no longer exists.
In any case they will be in the Greece schools in September since they live in greece. Weird?

To 2:39PM ~~ I know you are possibly repeating what you heard in media stories, but I distinctly recall that Hill's husband (an ex??) was interviewed and another child or two was still living with him. In fact, he admitted they had been attending Greece schools too but they put them back into the city. Perhaps the entire family could reside with him ... ? It strikes me as a bit odd that CPS isn't looking at her more carefully given her background with breaking the law.

How much more on top of the tuitions did going after her cost us? What made this worthwhile? What are we doing with others who are stealing their education? They must be laughing at us!!!

to 2:39: What makes you think that the kids will be in the Greece schools in September?

Strikes me as odd that CPS never looked at the fact that when she had her 1st baby with her ex she was 16 and he was 32.

Not to mention the one child was suspended from Greece Athena and that is why she was put back in the city schools.

9:28- The article the other day couldn't confirm that all her kids were out of Greece. Maybe thats why?
