We'll Test Your Grasp Of The Rules ...

On Friday afternoon, on one of the threads I asked if anyone could tell me the connection between Jerry Helfer and Cincinnatus at MonroeRising. I didn't receive much of a response. Here is what I thought I might hear about (until it gets removed):
The Helfer/Cincinnatus Connection

I'm wondering why someone of Jerry Helfer's caliber would allow himself to become a "friend" of a fictitious person associated with such vitriole. Anyone?

I'm not sure about the connection you discussed but he does have connections/relations (I believe). His dad is a retired deputy, his oldest brother (John?) is one of the main PR deputies for Monroe County Sheriffs, and his younger brother (Jason) is presently a GPD Sergeant.

And YES, I would love to be a fly on the wall at a Helfer-family holiday gathering once the guys start talking about work!

Question to scats from 11:58
...you don't have to print. Why would that post have the weird latin sounding name xxxed out and the other names are ok. I just typed that name as it appeared in your post originally and the link to facebook was under that name. Who is that name which I won't type now since you deleted just that.

11:48 - Your investigation into the Helfer family was incomplete. His father passed away so he doesn't get to have him there for family holidays anymore to "talk about work." Nice one though.

Don't you people have any sense of compassion? Or is it just all about nasty personal attacks in order to take over the town? The ends justify the means?

If Greece Democrats think tactics like this are going to work, well, I guess they'll so find out they won't. You may enjoy vicious politics, but the people don't.

To 9:36AM ~~ What I deleted wasn't a person's name. It was a word used to characterize that person in a certain way.

To 10:27AM ~~ Methinks you read way too deeply into comments posted here. Again, how do you know who is a Democrat? I know many of you think I am. I'm not.

BLOG Administration posted and then edited (below) a comment to omit the person's name. The explanation follows.

SCATS, I can ask the same question about Xxxx Xxxxx. On Facebook, he's friends with a someone/a profile named Bee Truthteller, who says he is Student Bee Reporter from RochesterTurning.

http://www.facebook.com/studentbeereporter

I wonder why someone of Xxxx Xxxxx's caliber would allow himself to become a "friend" of a fictitiousd person associated with such vitriole?

7/25/2009 2:12 PM

To 2:12PM ~~ First of all, when I went to the link you gave me, I found MANY "friends" but not the one you specifically named, even after reloading the page a dozen times. I'd be much more interested in knowing why a certain TV reporter is "friends" on such a website than the person you named anyway. Why? Because the person you named has little, if anything, to do with Greece politics, schools or this year's election. The reporter on the other hand MAY be influenced by the company she keeps through such endeavors. As a professional, I'd avoid ALL such connections and use of MySpace, Facebook and similar "networking" sites. Many in mainstream jobs have found their employers frown on their employees (or prospective ones) from dabbling in such interests.

On a scale of things, Monroe Rhttps://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=22923669&postID=4726513583769696758ising is a lot more mean spirited than Rochester Turning.

It would not suprise me -- though I don't know --if the COmunicatins dept at the County had a hand in it.
when Noah L was an undergrad at the University of Rochester his big stunt was the affirmative action bake sale. It could have been funny and satirical but he made it mean spirited.

MR reflects that kind of mean spirit.

I'd beless worried about friends of RT since they are rather mild and very up front about their political positions. You know what you are getting there.

They take a lot of stuff straight off media sources.

Sounds familiar :D

Republicans took over our town and now it's time for a CHANGE!!!

Stop all the whining you Republicans. You dish it out just as much.

10:27... My investigation?! At what point did I mention anything about an investigation. It seems that my knowledge gained through my (friendly) relationship with one of the brothers years ago was accurate, with the exception of their father's passing, which is unfortunate. Your chalking up my comments as attacks is way out of line!

7:19 - "Stop all the whining you Republicans. You dish it out just as much."

Looks like "someone" didn't read the new rules.

My understanding is that you're not supposed to accuse a commenter of any party affiliation.

12:06 - "They all work in the communications department in Monroe County. Employer: Maggie"

Again, an unfounded accusation with no proof or validity. As I understood it, not supposed to happen.

Everyone should be playing by the same rules.

To 1:17PM ~~ I didn't edit 12:06's comment because I have no idea who the "they" is that was referenced. It seems maybe you do? The other remark happens to be true. BOTH sides have whined plenty!

Wouldn't you agree that the Dems have been acting like donkeys while the Republicans keep trying to ignore the elephant in the living room ? :)

PLEASE DON'T ANSWER THAT!

Already the new rules are being selectively applied and excuses made to allow it.

@7:19 - so whiny democrats are talking about whiny republicans.

Let's see if this flies.

SCATS said...

To 10:52AM ~~ It seems that we agree. Both sides are being whiney!

so helfer is friends with himself on facebook? sorry about jerry's dad though. that's why i don't like to go after the families of politicians. you don't know when you might shove your foot in your mouth. just beat up the pols, leave the family out of it.

SCATS said...

To 11:18PM ~~ By asking if Helfer is friends with himself, did you intend to imply that Helfer is Cincinnatus?

Also, I don't think that stating that his father was a retired deputy is "going after family." We've already started to see that family connections through "public service" type jobs are extremely common to our local politicians, who often hold multiple positions themselves. It does make one wonder, especially after the crappola starts to hit the fan like it has in Greece. Nepotism lives.

At least it explains why Helfer is always asleep at the Town Board Meetings. Maggie all day, blog all night.
