Town Board Making Appointments Tonight

The appointment of Kirk Morris to the position of Fourth Ward Councilman to complete the term of Rick Antelli. (I wonder how many items the agenda will attribute to him to move or second since he won't be sworn in yet?? )

Authorization to enter into a lease agreement with Marie Riley for a portion of the property abutting 1080 Edgemere Drive. (Any relation to the Donald??)

Appointment of Kenneth Bowser to the position of Police Officer, effective August 10, 2009, pending approval by the Monroe County Civil Service Commission.

Appointment of Murry Solomon as Hearing Officer to conduct the hearing on the Charges and Specifications issued against Police Chief Merritt Rahn.

Appointment of John Corcoran as Hearing Officer to conduct the hearing on the Charges and Specifications issued against Deputy Chief of Police William Mackin.

SCATS ~~ Obviously, Kirk Morris' appointment was pre-planned and even pre-announced as can be seen in the May 15th story on MPNNow where it states: "In addition to Auberger, the Republican slate will include incumbents Shannon O’Keefe (1st Ward Council) and Bob Bilsky (2nd Ward Council); as well as newcomers Andrew Conlon (3rd Ward Council) and Kirk Morris (4th Ward Council)."

I wonder who is telling Auberger to appoint this cop tonight..........

Anonymous said...

Kirk's just another Firkins with the obvious difference. He keeps people from talking to Robach so Joe can pretend to be above the fray.

Anonymous said...

So he is an incumbent before his appointment is even voted on by the board?

Anonymous said...

I can't wait to be rid of Jerry Helfer. The invisible council man. Did you see his sour face tonight? This one's for him:

Anonymous said...

Is Jerry not seeking re-election? I did see another name just not sure of that means he is out.

Anonymous said...

So what happened?

Anonymous said...

He's term limited. YAY!

Anonymous said...

Wait until you see the youngin' they found to fill his shoes. What a comedy of errors this all has become!

Anonymous said...

Kirk Morris who? Google results are Zero! Not one news channel did a story on his appointment tonight. Could the reason be Auberger's past appointments/ disappointments?

I have to say this is a sad day in Greece. The Republican Town Board approved this guy about 100 days before his election. I believe this is a shady tactic by Kirk Morris, Rick Antelli, and the Republican Board to save money on having to pay for their own campaign litter. (Thanks to my taxes)

Kirk's work history has been impressive. Young Morris snagged a couple of jobs at restaurants in his teen years, volunteered on campaigns, then he cashed in his Republican IOU's, and finally received a real position without an election. What a town!

To Kirk's credit he has mastered one technique. He is awesome at leaching on to Republican suits to suck out his livelyhood. Must be nice to live in a house over 175,000 in the affluent 4th Ward.

Wait a second, Tax Payers like myself have been paying Kirk indirectly all these years.

Kirk, I would like to cash in my IOU's. Who do I talk to? John Auberger?

Anonymous said...

Kirk Morris is (was?) Robach's chief of Staff.

Anonymous said...

So, what happened at the meeting last night? Anyone show up with mirrors??

Anonymous said...

Greece deserves better than that clown act! Perhaps we can get Maloney and Dan Greene to switch rolls. That would give us a fighting chance at sanity!

Anonymous said...

Actually, if you put a red ball on Kirk, he has a clown face...and with that oversized corsage we could make it squirt water...

The biggest Bozo of course of them all is "Little John" with that arrogant little smirk he wears in public. If I were in their camp, I would choose my words wisely. It won't matter regardless, the big "Smackdown" is about to start.

The "Greatest Show On Earth" is the one that Merritt Rahn and John Parinello are about to give us. I've got advance tickets, front row and center. I wouldn't miss this for all the Bush Clowns in Texas.

Anonymous said...

I am confused? So if they are appointed they don't have to run in the election?

Anonymous said...

Rnews said one person held a mirror up at public forum last night (Brian Caterino). I don't get it Scats, I thought you had way more pull than that.

Anonymous said...

R-News is incorrect, there were several people who held up mirrors last night. I was there.

Anonymous said...

R-News was correct. Brian was the only one who addressed the board with a mirror.

Anonymous said...

If you had been in the audience you would have seen there were several people holding up mirrors. I was there. I saw it. Not everyone addressed the board, as we weren't there to do that. But there were plenty of people with mirrors.

Anonymous said...

plenty being 2 or 3? I think that hot former model broke hers when she looked into it.

Anonymous said...

From the coverage, Caterino had a mirror and Dave Garretson held up a mirror, that was it. The only people there as part of the mirror theatrical circus brigade were people from the Greece Democrat party, the Democrat candidates and their campaign team so it should be easy for 10:22 to list who exactly had a mirror. Gosh, this whole thing is so goofy. I can't believe the Greece Democrats are arguing over mirrors now.

SCATS said...

More important than mirrors is the fact that there was quite a large audience compared to the usual (even if you subtract out Kirk Morris' HUGE family) and media (at least 3 TV stations - 10, 13, RNews) was there. Getting people to show up to these meetings is the point, so I would say it was very successful ;)

Anonymous said...

What hot former model?

Anonymous said...

Lots of people brought mirrors but not everyone held it up. Scats is right. Getting coverage and getting people's attention is the purpose. It looks like the "shenanigans" (does anyone under age 65 actually use this word any more?) paid off pretty darn well!! Let's do it again next month!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

This is to sad. There are a few very professional, educated folks who have a desire to run for Town Board, but they are not in the John's freind and family club like Kurt and others.
As for the young guy running in Jerry Helfer's soon to be vacant seat that is another story. Apparently his parents know John. Here is a young man that is hired by the town in a part time recreation position, moves to full time, but spends more time with Jeff McCann on the second floor learning finance. Now is the coordinator for the Senior nutrition program in the county's office for the aging.
How many young people do you know that can move up the ladder that quickly. or yea and is now running on the republican ticket for town council. This is so fustrating that you have to laugh to stay sane.
John Auberger must go

SCATS said...

To 12:04PM ~~ Thank you. Maybe next month, everyone should take a friend or two. I'd suggest an older person so they can see how closed our govt in Greece is. I show my neighbors and friends those pre-printed agendas and get the same shocked reaction every time. Educate the people and they might choose differently in Nov.

Anonymous said...

I watched as several children were led out of the meeting last night when the democrat candidates started launching their personal attacks at the town board. It was an embarrassing display.

SCATS said...

To 1:46PM ~~ What were you embarassed by? At least two of the children who were led out had been promised ice cream, according to their father, newly sworn-in Kirk Morris! I suspect the other parents knew that such young kids would get restless quickly in such a setting. Anything more you want to try to blame on the speakers?

This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
SCATS said...

BLOG Administration deleted the previous posting for comments about a specific member of the audience and his/her personal appearance. I know politics gets "mean" but let's try to focus on the candidates, not the onlookers ;)

Anonymous said...

Morris and Hairburger share the Defendant line on at least one lawsuit aparently due to their "work" for the County.

Be very careful messin with Morris, he also has a pistol permit. Who knows, perhaps Morris is Hairburger's bodyguard.

I continue to ask the Dem candidate for Supervisor, WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT YOU and the rest of your slate? Why do you deserve consideration for election? What are your qualifications?

Anonymous said...

No one knows who the democrat candidates are but this is completely disregarded on this site which professes to be non-partisan. ;) I'm sure SCATS will help promote the dem slate, but hopefully with something besides silly stunts like this one.

SCATS said...

To 3:52PM ~~ I would LOVE to see a Republican candidate or two or three to run in Greece who stands for something MORE than the status quo. I don't see any Reps speaking out about the backroom meetings, the inbred politicians or the other "shenanigans" Auberger is pulling that are costing us some big $$! If you find such a candidate, please let me know. I will promote them.

Anonymous said...

C'mon. No you won't. Just be honest about where you stand. It yields respect.

Anonymous said...

If you want a blog dedicated to the view of a political party you can read Monroe Rising.I think that is probably run by municipal employees in the area. SCATS has a point of view anyone can ascertain (I don;t always agree but that's good --who wants a boring blog)but that hardly market just doesn't wash.

SCATS said...

To 8:45PM ~~ Unless you can substantiate your claim, it would be a good idea to refrain from calling me a liar ;)

I happen to believe in OPEN GOVT. Closed door meetings, pre-printed agendas with who is going to move which items just doesn't sit well with me. I think the Town Board makes the SAME MISTAKE as the School Board by avoiding true dialogue with community members.

I just read a recent study that doctors who apologize for mistakes they make on their patients suffer fewer lawsuits than the ones who don't acknowledge the wrongs they are responsible for. Seems to me like there's a lesson in that for both boards in this town, regardless their political persuasion.

Anonymous said...

And yet, you just lied about what I actually said. There's a word for that. ;)

SCATS said...

To 10:06PM ~~ If you posted the comment at 8:45PM, then you took exception to me saying that I would support a Rep. candidate that represented a change from the status quo. You gave no reasons for making the claim. Translated, you called me a liar by saying I wouldn't do what I said I would do. It is that simple.

Anonymous said...

please stop lying about what i said. please.

SCATS said...

To 10:53PM ~~ Please tell us all what was said that is a lie.

Anonymous said...

10:53 seems like a snert....the online type who likes to incite fights, nitpick, harass, play games and annoy everyone they encounter...

scats, why don't you make people get a google account and save yourself a lot of headaches and work?

SCATS said...

To 12:48AM ~~ Actually, I am thinking about it ...

Anonymous said...

To anonymous 3:50 so what answer do get from Aubergers challenger specific to your questions?

Anonymous said...

I agree SCATS. I'd even suggest having people register with their real names. I think Google accounts can be set up annonomously so the purpose isn't served. You'll either have "Anons" (now) or "qwert12345" or "iLiKeDoGs."

Not much difference from Anons. I'm also assuming that a person can set up more than one Google account.

Anyone sincere about their opinions will remain but the campaign workers will have to curtail the venom.

SCATS said...

To 3:14PM ~~ Yes, they could still be anonymous using fictional names (like SCATS). However, a person who continually breaks the rules would be known from the name. There is a way to identify the multiple account user/abuser ;)

Anonymous said...

That's why you should always use a proxy server.

Anonymous said...

I vote for names. It's easy to be abusive anonymously and to lie or spread false info when no one knows who you are. It's not SCATS' fault but this is out of control and rampant here. I'm surprised the obvious republican posters here aren't doing it.

SCATS said...

To 8PM ~~ I really don't want to get into such areas. I've always said, I really don't care who you are or where you come from. I do think a certain amount of maturity is necessary though. If it can't be achieved otherwise, I'll have people create Google accounts anonymously (like the SCATS account). If someone gets too far out of bounds, I can report them. Or I could make the BLOG a members only BLOG where you sign up via the aforementioned Google account and I give each person/name individual permission to post comments. If they ignore the rules too often ... BAM ! ... they are personna non grata. Sadly, I am sure it would inhibit many from taking the effort to make an account and be bothered with logging in to comment.

To 10:16PM ~~ Believe it or not, I'm told SCATS has become a "banned site" at the County Office Bldg in the past couple of weeks. Interestingly, MonroeRising is still very accessible from their computers ;)

Anonymous said...

Oh Jerry and Jessie, don't you have something better to do?

Anonymous said...

Go with names. Why the reluctance? Isn't civility, credibility and honesty more important than a high comment count? Besides, you're big enough that people will stay. Those who leave don't belong here anyway.

All sorts of nasty and inappropriate comments made here that are left up. You can't get them all.

SCATS, clearly, I know you don't support or endorse lies and fabrications. That's all that would really change here - getting rid of the crap is more important.

Might I humbly suggest a poll.

1. Commenters register with their real names. Nothing else changes but you're responsible for what you say. Expect more civility and truth - you want to see change.

2. Keep the Anons / create anon Google accounts and you keep the freedom to say whatever you want (current rules still apply). Basically, status quo - you like it the way it is.

SCATS said...

To 11:55PM ~~ I have been contemplating the poll angle, too. Unfortunately, there are some who abuse their ability to vote on them, making it an unreliable method of measuring sentiment.

Anon nicknames would serve a purpose and keep some from posting altogether. Like I said, I could make people create the account, and login as a "MEMBER" to this BLOG. If you abused the privilege, your name would get booted from the list of those permitted to post. I've been mulling this over for awhile. I haven't reached a decision yet, but I will.

Anonymous said...

Who's Jerry and Jessie? Are you talking about Jerry helfer? Are you saying that you knows he's blogging here? During work hours? If so, it's wrong but...

How would you know who are commenting? Only SCATS would have the IP addresses on everyone so how and why are you "outing" people? How would you know that those two are commenting here. Or is 11:53 spreading more misinformation and lies?

What gives 11:53? Why don't you explain yourself and how you got the IP addresses.

Again, another reason for just using real names. Just proved my freakin point. this is bulls***.

Anonymous said...

It's a little amusing that you decry using Anonymous while using Anonymous, Anonymous.

Why not blaze a trail and start using your name if you feel so strongly about it?

A fake moniker is a wee step up from not using one at all, at least from the perspective of a moderator. It's easier that way to nix the trolls.

With rare exception, everyone posting (and blogging) here uses anonymity as a shield from taking true personal responsibility for their free speech. Myself included. Using real names would be the death knell for this blog and countless others. It won't be nearly as fun to speak your mind when people know who you really are and you're called to account for what you say. That's the beauty of the Internet.

Anonymous said...

Lead the way 1:08! Since you have such a strong opinion on it show us.

Anonymous said...

What part of my strong opinion "Using real names would be the death knell for this blog and countless others. It won't be nearly as fun to speak your mind when people know who you really are and you're called to account for what you say. That's the beauty of the Internet," did you misunderstand 1:30?

Anonymous said...

Please change the name of this blog-it used to be a great place to discuss ongoings in the Greece Schools-now it seems to cover politics, other towns, police reports etc etc. That's fine but its no longer what it used to be and thats a darn shame.

Watch for another site coming soon that will promote the positive ongoings in our schools and provide positive info if change needs to be had.

In the meantime-SCATs please dont take it personally-you provide a nice forum for discussion about topics, try to be fair: but at the end of the day- you're either searching for something to write about or the Greece School District isnt that exciting anymore>

And thats a good thing I quess.

SCATS said...

To 6:50AM ~~ GCSD is closed for summer. No BOE meetings planned for an entire month! I guess they ran out of business to conduct, at least the kind that gets done in public. If you have a topic you want to discuss, try suggesting it. Otherwise, don't complain about what we cover.

By the way, if you fail to see the connection between Town Hall and the BOE and/or GPD, then you might want to pay closer attention ;) It's pretty much all one big maelstrom of corruption these days ... ie ~ they share a common denominator.

Anonymous said...

Wow - somebody hit a raw nerve on using the name Jerry. Are the Greece GOP attacking this site?

Anonymous said...

I doubt it. The Greece Democrats control the flow of the discussions here.

SCATS said...

To 12:38PM ~~ The next time you post such drivel without substantiating your claim, your comment will be deleted for posing as an opinion ;)

Anonymous said...

SCATS, the democrats here do it all the time and you allow it and don't threaten to delete their comments. Why is that?

They absolutely control the flow of discussion. Their comments are sometimes 5-1 compared to the republicans here.

The comment had nothing to do with you. What made you take it personally?

Anonymous said...

SCATS blog clearly isn't a democratic tool. If it was the content would be much different. It hardly relfects any democratic party agenda. We re all intersted inteh race for Town government seats this year. Join the debate but republicans need to better than name calling and union bashing

I don't approve of attempts to intimidate SCATS and trying to limit his/her freedom to pick relvant issues. That's a big prt of the problem with this town.

Anonymous said...

IF the Greece democrats controlled the agenda it would be quite different.

We need a good debate about the future of our town. SCATS is helping us to do this.

Anonymous said...

I don't think anyone said anything about content/stories. Look at the comments. That's the point. Democrat Party people heavy.

Please stop with the "limiting freedom of speech" rhetoric. That's not remotely happening here. It's SCATS' site. SCATS does as SCATS wants. No one's stopping him or her.

But don't get so upset when a lie is pointed out to be a lie.

And don't worry, people will always be free to lie. That won't change either.

SCATS said...

It amazes me that so many of you ASSume you know which comment is made by Dem or by a Rep. I wonder if you can predict Lottery numbers, too? Probably not, or you wouldn't be here bashing each other with silly remarks about how an audience member appears, union rats or threatening me with creation of another BLOG (go for it! :)

I suppose that asking you to focus on the issues would be too much ... ?

I'm ending this thread with this comment ... PERIOD>.
