Pretty good editorial. It could be even stronger though. When will the papers ask for Auberger's resignation.

What's that old saying about "rats leaving a sinking ship"? I heard from someone in the know that it's already started.

It has been reported that Jeff McCann has approached uptown Dems about saving his job if the S.S. Auberger slips beneath the waves in November, a victim of the self-inflicted leaks.

Once a Democrat, Jeff will switch back to the Dems if he wins the legislative race in November as a Republican. In exchange, supposedly, Maloney will keep him on as Deputy Supervisor at $80,000 per year.

This makes sense in light of Jeff's family relationship with Morrele and Jeff's bride.

Politicians, don't they just make you want to toss your cookies? I don't know about you, but that's their effect on me, the whole bunch of them.

We'll see. Auberger won't go down without a fight.

To 3:15PM...Auberger WILL go down without a fight if we just vote his rear end out of office.

The investigation of hiring practices by the town ought to extend to hiring of cronies and awarding of county jobs to office holders

What investigation? Oh, you mean the report which will end up on John Auberger's desk. So much for that.

1:17: That's an interesting claim that I'm sure Dan Maloney will be happy to clarify. If he comes to my door I know I'll ask him. If anyone else talks to him, ask what the plan is and please share here.

SCATS, do you think you can get Dan to post a comment here on the details and what exactly he promised?

I think both sides would want to know about his cutting deals with local republicans on behalf of the County democrat party.

To both 1:17PM (7/31/2009) & 1:27PM
(8/01/2009) ~~ I don't know where this idea came from regarding Jeff McCann. 1:17PM claims it's "been reported." Reported where? In your mind?

It seems to me McCann would be your "go to" person on such a deal, since it would be him that would be playing both sides against the middle. I guess that would go to HIS character ;)

By the way, it's "been reported" that this BLOG is no longer accessible from the Monroe County Office Bldg. when it was accessible just recently. Hmmm ...

I wonder if the McCann idea floated here isn't just speculation or wishful thinking. If the dems gain just one seat in the upcoming elections, they will already be the majority and will not need McCann.

I would be glad to take the $80,000 myself

Scats
How is that possible that it is screened out? That is censorship.

Many sites are blocked, music sites, lotto sites, shopping sites etc to better use band width for productive work. It seems odd that the smarter cats site would be blocked, I wouldn't think there would be many hits to that site, could be politically motivated since it appears to have a democratic party point of view.

To 8:26PM ~~ I don't know the answer to that. I was told it was accessible, and then it wasn't. Interestingly, certain other local political BLOGS are still accessible, like Monroe Rising, according to my source.

To 8:42PM ~~ I laugh every time people try to connect me with either party! But it's OK. I've been called all sorts of things ... anti-union included! LOL

Following up on 1:17's claim, now this is second hand so take it with that in mind. The "buzz" now is that the young people running Maloney's campaign are spreading this rumor and it's actually false. The plan is to create a bunch of these claims and continually role them out as "fact" here and on other sites throughout the remainder of the campaign. It's an interesting strategy.

To 8:51AM ~~ You actually feel the need to help distribute what you yourself have identified as a second-hand rumor? That's about as low as it gets.

the best way to see if the McCain information is true or false is to vote Dan M in as supervisor and see.
This would be much safer than allowing John A to continue. How much has his ineffective supervision cost the tax payers so far. Still counting!

While the DA and John Aubergers self appointed investigators continue to investigate the Greece Police, why don't they widen the net to look into how high of a grade did Merritt score on the chief's civil service exam to be to become the chief of Ogden and qualified to be the chief of greece.
This will really bring out the corruption in a republican governed civil service system and nepotism from the county leaders down.
