Town Board Meeting Tuesday @6PM

PUBLIC ACCESS TV
is on the agenda!!

Blogger Dave Garretson says:

Your chance to see first hand how your town government doesn't care what you think
For almost two years, John Auberger has been refusing to hold public hearings or invite public comment on what residents of Greece want on their public access channel. On Tuesday evening, the new bare-bones service he chose without your input will be approved.

Have you ever been to a town board meeting? This is your opportunity to see how Greece operates, and how little effect you and your neighbors have on your elected representatives. The issue of PEG (public access TV) is on the agenda. This means it is already approved, just not voted on publicly yet.

You'll see citizens walk up to the podium to speak. You are free to be one of them. John Auberger and the town board will sit there stone-faced without uttering a word or engaging anybody in dialog. Afterwards there will be a vote. The agenda will indicate who makes each motion and who will second it. Every item on the agenda will be approved. You can go home now. Your input was not welcome and made no difference.

SCATS ~~ Dave makes some excellent points! Will media be there?

I care and I will be at the meeting.

Dave you know full well the Council of Bobbleheads will not be told how to vote and issued their questions to ask publicly until Thursday afternoon in John Hairburger's conference room.

The vet hating pansie can be followed from his hairdressing parlor to the meeting on Thursdays.

11:23 - I think that only a hand full will show up to support. Brian has burned so many bridges with his childish behavior these past few years. If he had only shut up, played ball etc., he could have had a cushy job with 100% medical and a salary at Greece CSD...but instead he acted like a baby.

what's the big deal about who moves and seconds something? I think that's the way it's done in other governments. I think that's the county leg does it that way, even when the democrats were in charge. Garretson needs to get a job!

I don't give a GD about Brian or his channel, but I DO care that this town is run like a mob family. This is supposed to be a democracy, and we should know what is going on and let people have a say when they disagree.

That IS what it's all about 9:48! I'll be there just to show the "powers" that some people do care.

Dave is one thousand percent right. I attended a town board meeting once. Never again! Waste of time. The whole thing is decided in advance and scripted. No discussion. No questions. You can go up to the mike and talk yourself blue and they probably won't even look up at you. If it's on the agenda, it's already a unanimous yes vote. I think I'll make an exception and show up tonite just to help make a stink

Maybe the problem is that they don't usually feel watched. If a large group suddenly appeared, how do you think the board would react?
