Dewey Ave. Kwik-Fill Robbed Sunday

A neighbor to the Kwik-Fill located at 2734 Dewey Ave. emailed me to say this gas station was robbed Sunday at approximately 6:30PM. The thief took off in a car traveling at a high speed down Dewey Ave. headed into the city. The attendant on duty just began work there last week.

SCATS ~~ I wonder why stories like this don't make it into the newspaper but the "feel good" fluff pieces ("Teachers try to keep kids focused as school year winds down") do.

[tongue-in-cheek]
Because stuff like this happens every day and affects only those people involved.

The school year winds down only once a year and affects 13,000 children. Besides, Greece needs to "feel good" about itself, don't you think?

To 1:04PM ~~ Or maybe the reporter needs to feel good about herself too. In my opinion, that article was a waste of space with a misleading title. The two page "story" was about ONE school. The "big news" in today's fluffpaper was about 31 pink flamingos stolen from someone's lawn. Do you think our PD will solve this crime? Let's check Ebay ;)

Anyone notice the for sale sign just to the west of the pond behind the tops property on Maiden? 6 acres plus.
Does that mean houses could be there or is tops selling the property and could it be commercial?

To 2:06PM ~~ I noticed that sign on Sat. afternoon. I'm pretty certain it's zoned commercial and, as you noted, owned by TOPS.

Tops doesn't own the plaza, they're a tenant.

To 5:34PM ~~ Then by all means please tell us who owns the plaza? The parcel in question appears rather small ... not much space to provide parking.

What an odd shaped lot. The pond only adds to its oddness. The ad doesn't say how big the property actually is, just says it has 240' frontage. For $295,000 I wish them luck unloading this.

Update on the Kwik-Fill ~~ I'm told that no weapon was used so the Kwik-Fill incident is officially tagged "a larceny" not a robbery.

FYI.......The parcel for sale next to Tops is a little over 6 acres according to the large "For Sale" sign posted on the property.

That piece of property is basically a mosquito breeding ground! I laughed when I got to the part in the ad saying it could be used for a daycare, school or church lol

To 8:10AM ~~ The ad states: "Present zoning: SINGLE, OTHER- SEE REMARKS"

Elsewhere it specifies: "Wooded acreage with retaining pond complete with fountain. Wetlands incl in property (pond). 240+ feet of frontage. Directly behind Topps Plaza. With town permits, other usages incl. daycare, church, school, rec facility or with current usage, residential. Use your imagination for what you want to use it for."

Scary huh?
