Greece Town Supervisor Candidate Faults Auberger for Lack of ResponsibilityGreece N.Y- May 14, 2009: Today, Dan Maloney, the Democratic Candidate for Town Supervisor issued the following statement in response to John Auberger’s press release. Mr. Auberger stated, “Justice has been served” in response to the sentencing of former Greece Police Officer Nicholas Joseph.

Maloney continued, “In February, Mr. Auberger stated, “Justice has been served” in response to the sentencing of former Greece Town Assessor Charles Schwab. Will Mr. Auberger state “justice has been served” at the end of the DA’s investigation into the other scandals in the Greece Police Department and town government?”

Maloney stated “I see a pattern of incompetence in the hiring practices of the town led by current Supervisor John Auberger. Mr. Auberger is ultimately responsible for hiring Nicholas Joseph and Charles Schwab. Mr. Auberger needs to take responsibility for his actions in the current scandals that have cost the hard-working, taxpaying citizens of Greece dearly.”

“The sentencing of “bad actors” and those still under criminal investigation have eroded the morale and reputation of the officers serving the Greece Police Department with honor and professionalism each and every day.” Maloney said. “Those officers and their families don’t deserve the bad rap and shame brought on them by the hiring decisions of John Auberger.” This situation was brought to the public’s attention in the January 2009 New York Law Enforcement Accreditation Council report. The report states that the hiring practices of the current town administration, led by Supervisor, John Auberger, were so deficient that NYLEAC refused to provide accreditation to the Greece Police Department. “Had Mr. Auberger and his administration followed prescribed hiring procedures and performed proper back ground checks, we would not be faced with the onslaught of criminal investigations and pending lawsuits we now have. In the end these lawsuits are always settled at taxpayer expense.” Maloney said.

“It is time for John Auberger to come clean with the citizens of Greece and take responsibility for his part in the scandals that have brought disgrace on our once proud town. For justice to truly be served John Auberger needs to be held accountable for his actions.”

Umm, Auberger didn't hire Schwab. Boily did.

I agree with Maloney's statements, and his criticism of Auberger is largely true. I'm not sure of some of his facts. Maybe someone knows for sure.

Wasn't Schwab around during the Boily years? I don't think he was actually hired by Auberger was he?

Anonymous said...

He says "ultimately". I think he means Schwab should have been terminated long ago when he had his own private phone line installed in his office to run his "business".

Instead, he kept him, let him steal from the till, and claimed he never watched him because he wasn't supposed to.

All of the real "crap" years came under Aubergers watch. What a legacy he has built for himself!

Gee gollie gosh, a real hard hitting Democrat candidate comes out swinging. Obviously the Greece Democrats can't afford a teleprompter so Dan is working from 3 x 5 cards.

The open question REMAINS; What is Dan Maloney beyond the face at the top of the Dem ticket?
What experience or expertise will Dan bring to the office?

It's already obvious whoever is writing Dan's material hasn't a clue what the Supervisor's job description or scope of authority are.

Dan, where do you live, how long have you lived in Greece, what do you do for a living? Comon Dan, get out of the closet. Who knows, you might be worthy of a vote? One thing for sure, I AIN'T AUBERGER isn't enough. I take my orders from County Dem Headquarters sure as hell ain't a recommendation.

ANSWER THE QUESTIONS DAN!!

To 2:51... as far as I'm concerned, "I ain't Auberger" is more than enough. No way am I voting for him and his greedy gang again.

Vote for Maloney because he is full of BALONEY.

It sounds like there are scared republicans posting on this blog who are desperate to try to silence legitimate criticisms.

You should all watch for this. The republicans take no prisoners strategy has been in place for many years. They try to characterize the democratic challengers as unqualified or otherwise not even worthy to speak. Remember what they did to Dave Garretson and his supposed tax problem? (rather ironic considering the real tax problems of some republicsns) You can expect more of the same kind of dirty tactics

But what qualifications does it take to be an Auberger stooge and say yes to everything he says?

It seems to me Maloney's concern was justified. Let's tell the republicans out there to stop this kind of action and have fair canmpaining.

Then let the voters decide

Just keep Jack in the Box!

I'm republican and I am voting for MALONEY.

No more criminals running the show.

DONE. FINISHED. NO MORE.

What were Auberger's qualifications for the job when he came on board. All he needed was the backing of the Republicans and he was in like Flynn.

No one asked any questions about what experience he had running a town of this size. No one has any experience until they take on the job.

The same was true for Boily, Riley, Eckert, etc. All they were were good old boys of the right party. That's what it takes.

Great, here comes the two toughest kids on the block squaring off at the neighborhood playground.

C'mon, the blog posters here are made entirely up of republican and democrat party members going after each other with poor SCATS as the referee that both sides will argue with for not ruling in their favor.

The average person doesn't care this much about politics either way.

Silencing criticism from either side is impossible here. That would only be the case if one of the political parties is running this site, which I know isn't true.

Sadly, this is all we're going to get on this blog for the next six months. *sigh*

To 5:04PM ~~ If the party politics becomes too ugly on here, I'll just stop BLOGGING about most of it ;) At this point, I have PLENTY to work with for months to come, thanks to the GPD!

I'm a republican, life-long Greece resident and plan on voting for Mr. Maloney - simply because he's the only alternative. But please Mr. Maloney, get your facts correct before releasing statements. Schwab was there long before Auberger arrived. We're rooting for you!!

Anonymous said...

It's true, Boily hired Schwab, he also hired Rahn and recently hired Achramovitch. Isn't that some record to run on. He sure knows how to pick em!

And now, this great judge of character is once again running for the school board where, believe it or not, he thinks our district is doing just great. I know he had a hard time staying awake during board meetings, but I truly believe this man is "asleep at the wheel."

Anonymous said...

Actually, the Assessor serves at the pleasure of the Supervisor. When Auberger was elected, he would have HAD to have hired Schwab instead of bringing in anyone new. And there were already problems with him under Boiley - but John wanted to keep him. So Auberger appointed him as Assessor under HIS WATCH. And it was under Auberger's watch that the crimes against this community occurred.

So Maloney is CORRECT! Nice try on the part of the GOP to deflect the crooks from the liars!

Sorry to break it to you, but I am not a Republican. I'm a registered Democrat and I am not voting for Maloney because he is full of Baloney. The Auto Workers Union is more corrupt than the Greece Police Department. The DUMBOCRATS are insane for even nominating a union head. Gotta love all the DUMBOCRATS commenting on the blog though.

To Jcorourke ~~ Name-calling is not tolerated here. Since you are new here and didn't target an individual, consider this your one free pass. Next time, the comment gets edited and/or deleted.

jcorouke, it's also ok to name call someone SCATS doesn't like. You just have to figure out who those are, but it's pretty obvious.

If it helps, just don't ever insult Dan Maloney or Democrat candidates here, or Joe Moscato.

Once again with the namecalling allegations SCATS. Just what name did the man supposedly call in his post that is on the wisheywashey nonexistant list? Is this nonlist subject to your whim? If it's Thursday it must be a namecall?

For the record, I am NOT a REPUBLICKIN.

Dan Maloney 'I ain't Hamburger' just ain't lighting the sky up folks. We can't even begin to think Maloney is the lesser of 2 evils and I sure wish there was a
3rd in the race, especially if we don't know who Maloney is.

Union official at GM, I knew one of the GM Union officials once, his role was to increase the number of Union employees and reduce the work each and every Union employee did. So, does Dan plan to hire more town employees and reduce the workload on each town employee? Will that increase Comp Claims from employees falling asleep at work? What will that do for taxes?

WHAT IS Dan's PLAN? What has Dan accomplished so far in life? Where does Dan live? Why don't I recall ever seeing Dan on Cable 12 tape of a Town Board meeting asking questions from the floor? Did Dan only discover his interest in politics this month?

What is Dan's position on the single Town wide lighting district which sticks it to the people in the NorthWest corner of town?

What will Dan's position be on sidewalks nobody will ever walk on?

What is Dan's position on Town Street paving? Can Dan recognize a pothole?

I want to know dan's positions on TOWN issues, not County and or State issues. I want some assurance Dan has read the job description and has some idea of the power and duty of Supervisor.

Will Dan have a Firkins to seperate him from the public if Dan is elected? Will Dan be available to the citizens of Greece?

Why is Dan unable to speak?

Anonymous said...

Who is Shannon OKeebler? Where does she live? What does she do? Who does she know? WHo are the other 2? What do they wear? What do they like to eat? Do they like cookies? Will they do what John A. tells them or what citizens want? Do they give presents to taxpayers on holidays? Will they walk the walk, and talk the talk? Are they related to Merritt Rahn? Are they related to elected GOP? Are they buddies with Maggies husband? OH so many questions, so little time!

What a joke you are 12:42!

Anonymous said...

Really?

So far we have heard a lot from Dan. More than we have heard from Auberger in all of his last term.

Where does Auberger live?

SCATS said...

To 9:19AM ~~ It is my understanding from two others who live there that Mr. Auberger rents at Mill Landing ... it's known to be Greece's most expensive rentals at $1400+ per mo which only includes trash hauling. Even water costs extra.

SCATS said...

To 12:22AM ~~ I'm so glad someone has finally figured me out. Unfortunately, you aren't the one. For the record, I'm not a Dem. I don't ever vote a party ticket just because. I vote the better person, regardless their party affiliation.

To 12:42 AM ~~ You think "DUMBOcrat" isn't name-calling? If you can't understand what constitutes name-calling, then I guess you are as juvenile as the others. If we had ANY Dems in office in Greece (you know, the ole TWO party system at work), maybe you'd see that my views are more balanced.

By the way, your tone with me is not recommended either. YOU are here at MY pleasure, not the other way around ;)

From public records it seems Mr A is paying the mortgage on 204 Southhampton Dr, and probably lives there.

Public records indicate Ms Okeefe Towncouncilperson owns the house at 285 Laurelwood and aparently resides there.

Hey SCATS grab your hairball grease, somebody namecalled Councilperson OKeefe.

SCATS said...

To 10:03AM ~~ I'm not sure if the "O'Keebler" reference was name-calling or if that person is confused about the name. I've seen people say "Mahoney" when they meant "Maloney" and vice versa.

To 7:22AM ~~ Please refrain from calling her the cookie-maker.

Anonymous said...

He might own it but isn't 204 Southhampton where his mom lived. I don't believe John has resided there for years.

Anonymous said...

As of two years ago I'm 100% sure Auberger was at Mill Landing. I knew one of his neighbors.

I get the feeling that the person who is asking "who is Dan Maloney" is really attempting to discredit this guy for the sake of another political party agenda.
If you really want to know who Dan Maloney is so that at election time you feel that you are casting your vote for the best canidate then why not pick up the phone and call him for a sit down.
If he accpets your invitation then at least you know one thing right off the bat, that he is more accessible then the present supervisor.
Ask him those questions that are most important to you.
It is correct to say that Charles Schwab was hired during the Boily administration. It is also correct to say that because the the Town Assessor services at the pleasure of the town's supervisor, John Auberger did not have to keep him on.
When John Auberger took office and being from the same political party the Boily adminstration provided John with information that contained evaluations on each department head to include any disciplinary actions that were taken.
From what our town is dealing with now it appears that either John forgot to reveiw this information,or ignored the to draw his own conclusions. If the later is true, then I am sure that John is thinking that maybe he should have reveiwed the information. information
