ACLU Seeks All Records Related To Youth Directory

From the D&C ~~

The Genesee Valley Chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union has asked the Greece Central School District to provide more information about a directory of mostly Christian-based youth services distributed by the school system last month.

The directory was created and printed by local church groups who are part of the school board's faith community committee. The agency has filed a Freedom of Information request seeking all records, notes and invoices related to the directory.

SCATS ~~ I wonder how much the district's legal fees will be once we're done "defending" Julia's pet religious project ... ?

The district should put out a recall on the Youth Directories and say they are defective. This might help them get off-the-hook for their stupidity in pandering religion to public school children. It will save us a bundle in upcoming lawsuits. Then we should sue the lawyers who advised the district in this fiasco .......for malpractice and incompetance.

Yesterday two ladies from Jehovahs Witness came to the door. I told them to contact Julia and demand inclusion in the directory. They said they're certain their church would want to be listed. I showed them it isn't hehehee

I'd like to interest the ACLU in a two-fer. How about looking into the segregation issue caused by the lottry winners?

Scats is right on. Why should we foot the legal bill for Julia's personal, religious agenda! How much will this cost the district? I confess. I don't have the courage to stand up at a BOE meeting and demand an answer. I would be putting my job in jeopardy. It's a total abuse of power to throw money at this issue, yet I can't openly complain or there would be repercussions. I bet I'm not alone.

The ACLU is a joke. They're only doing this so Gary Pudup has a reason to get paid. Do you guys hate all groups that try to help kids or just the religious ones? It's sad that you're filled with so much anger towards people that haven't done a thing to personally hurt you. God bless.

Julia? is that you?

I hate no one. This is not about hate. I love kids.
I go to church and value services offered to kids through church. The issue is that the directory was completely unnecessary and too risky of business for our schools to participate in given the cost, both monetarily and in perception( christian focus). There are many support systems in place for our students. Julia's personal agenda will cost us thousands in legal fees. That is wrong and financially irresponsible. At one point someone asked who paid the printing costs. This will be nothing in comparison to the legal fees.

No Mr. Maloney, it's not.

This is beyond ridiculous. Parents in the Town of Greece have enough trouble parenting. Most of them have little parenting skills. So why not let them get as much help as possible to raise their juvenile delinquents?

9:36, I'm not sure how you equate holding people accountable for repeatedly making poor choices and routinly looking out for their own special interests, as being filled with hate. If we as a community began to see the right decisions being made, these people would be applauded.

LOL, so much outrage over people who are willingly looking to serve the community, but virtually no outrage over the millions being pissed away by the district.

It's the same bullcrap as the stuff at the national level. People get so distracted by the smallest of issues, and ignore the really important stuff.

Where were you all on May 19th? Huh? Less than 5,000 people actually VOTED on the budget. If you didn't vote, then you voted to pass the $195 million onerous budget. Pathetic!

The district is THROWING money down the toilet, and many are whining (instead) about a brochure that the district DIDN'T PAY FOR!!!!!!!

Are you kiddin' me? And we wonder why we're in the state of affairs that we are.
