TOP 10 REASONS WHY THE BUDGET WENT "THUD" ...

Reason # 10 - Voters couldn't find their new polling location, or find parking once they arrived

Reason #9 - People couldn't read the
tiny print on the propaganda post cards that GCSD sent to residents

Reason #8 - People think the budget doesn't provide all that it ought to provide

Reason #7 - People think schools of choice cost too much and/or provide something everyone's children should have

Reason #6 -
Folks are angry that music teachers were cut, that schools are on the "State Watch List," that kids aren't graduating, that parents have to buy expensive calculators/supplies ... etc.

Reason #5 - They think the total budget amount is too high

Reason #4 - Residents don't believe the ever-changing figures Mr. Schroeder puts forth

Reason #3 -
Everyone thinks the BOE studies too much and acts too little

Reason #2 - People are tired of paying increased taxes every year

Reason #1 - Nobody trusts/believes the BOE or GCSD!!

(It was REALLY difficult to limit this list to JUST 10 reasons!!)

BOE Hopes Exit Poll Tells Why Budget Went Down

Frank Oberg, BOE VP: "It was just Greece being Greece again. We passed three budgets in a row and it was time to put a dagger in the heart of one."

BOE Member Elect, Patrick Tydings: "They even voted down the proposition to establish a savings account. The proposition wasn't even to put any money in the account, just to establish a savings account. I don't know what the message in that is."

The Candidates, The Budget, Your Vote & Our Opinion

SCATS Endorses
Hurwitz & Tydings as "Independents"
(We support O'Toole over Russell or Smith for the third seat)

SCATS Recommends a
Bullet Vote for either

Hurwitz or Tydings
(to make your vote really count)

SCATS Recommends
Vote "NO" On The Budget
(it lacks what's needed to be educationally sound despite a 13% increase in State Aid!)

SCATS Recommends
Vote "NO" On The Propositions
(the dubious wording worries us!)

SCATS ENDORSES HURWITZ & TYDINGS

With three seats open on the Greece School Board, we believe the time for change has come again! Let's see what happens with two attornies sitting on this BOE. Maybe they can help reduce the school district's need to use & pay a platoon of lawyers. At the very least, maybe they can accomplish more than make empty promises the way incumbent Bill Russell has done.
